Each student should submit a separate assignment, even if it is an identical computer file to the rest of your study group. Each person in the group should find 2 academic articles related to your current choice of final project. Write a short paragraph on each, concentrating on what data is used (and whether it is accessible), what econometric techniques, and what questions are addressed.
I downloaded and prepared a new dataset for you, ACS 2015. That has the usual set of demographic factors plus info on what major the college students chose. Estimate some models that look at how important (if at all) college major is, in explaining wages, labor force status, and health insurance status. Try out some of the new techniques that you’ve been learning such as Logit/Probit, k-nn, Quantile Regression, LOESS, Propensity Score, LASSO, Spike & Slab, Tree, Random Forest. Impress me.
