My
expectations of you (the student):
- do the homework regularly, giving a good faith
effort to every problem
- form a study group -- your fellow students are
often the best teachers
- read the relevant textbook chapter(s) and other
material before class
- keep up with economic news (newspaper such as NY
Times or Wall St Journal, radio such as NPR's Marketplace, online sites
include nytimes.com or marketplace.org) -- the Career Center
subscribes to a number of magazines and newspapers -- go there to read!
- attend class regularly and participate, including
asking questions in class when I'm unclear
- spend approximately 10 hours per week: 3 in class,
and 7 doing reading or homework assignments (often with a study group) --
If you spend substantially less time, your grade will suffer
- have a CCNY email address that you check regularly
(or set to auto-forward to another account) so that I can email the class
from the Blackboard site
- know how to access information online, both from
the class web page and the Blackboard site
- do the exams entirely on your own, without cheating
Your
expectations of me:
- your homework assignments should be returned in a
timely manner (usually the next class)
- solutions will be available online for each problem
set
- grades will be posted online and updated regularly,
so that you can assess your standing in the class
- your grade will be determined entirely by your
observed performance on homework and exams, according to pre-set
publicly-available rules (below)
- I should be easily accessible by email during the
workweek for your questions and comments
- class materials (homework, solutions, etc) should
be available online in a timely fashion (but note that the college server
is not 100% reliable, so never wait until the last minute!)
